I dug into my first water heater I ever got. Such a pita that I now just snip off what wires I can see, or sometimes I can snip and pull all of it.

And then of course I pull the valve and any copper. Did one yesterday that had copper fittings on the in/outlet. Never seen it that way before. Always see galvanized connected to a copper flex line.
